Introduction to the Golf Academy
The newly opened Golf Academy at Aphrodite Hills Golf Resort features
a large double ended driving range with distance markers. Short
game practice facilities including a large putting green and separate
pitching and chipping green. The academy also has its own 3-hole
course, consisting of two par 4’s and on par 3. Aphrodite
Hills provides the perfect environment for learning golf and improving
your game. We would also like to introduce you to our resident
PGA Professional, Andrew Darker and Giles Johnson. Andrew heads
the Professional team; he brings with him a wealth of international
experience. Andrew joined us from Abu Dhabi where he directed
the set up of a new Golf Academy and promoted golf awareness to
the Middle Eastern market. Previously Andrew was based in the
UK. He was Senior Coach at the renowned Cranfield Golf Academy,
“the experience I gained working alongside on of Europe’s
top coaches, Scott Cranfield has proved invaluable to my own development
as a premier coach,” says Andrew. Also working with the
Professional team is Giles Johnson. Giles joins us from Germany
where he worked as a teaching professional promoting golf throughout
the country
He has the ability of teaching golf in both German and English
languages. Giles has an excellent reputation in coaching; he has
worked with golfers of all levels and ability; from beginners
to club teams and county players. Previous to this, Giles worked
at one of top Golf Clubs in the South of England.

Hills to promote golf throughout Cyprus. I have many goals and
ambitions, one is to produce a future champion from Cyprus who
can compete with the worlds best tour professionals”.
The Golf Academy at Aphrodite Hills has a variety of programmes
to choose from. Please read through the descriptions of programmes
available before choosing one that suits your requirements.
Lesson Programmes
Individual lessons
Suitable for golfers of all levels. The professional will work
on the key areas of your game to guarantee improvement. A plan,
or course of lessons could be established, this would avoid the
quick fix approach and ensure that changes remain a permanent
part of your game.
Couples lessons
All of the lessons and programmes are available as couples lessons.
You can share the lesson and enjoyment with a partner or friend.
Start Golf Programme
Suitable for the complete beginner. Consists of a series of 4
x 45 minute lessons on the driving range. Teaching you the key
fundamentals, including the grip, set-up and swing movements.
This is a great introduction to the swing and will include some
of the basic rules and etiquette.
Redevelopment Programme
Suitable for the novice and is a continuation from the Start Golf
Programme. Consists of a series of 3 x 45 minute lessons and 1
x 3 hole playing lesson on the academy course. Introduces the
use of various clubs using the full swing. Also includes techniques
for putting and chipping before taking you out to play the 3 academy
holes. This is the next step to getting out on the course.
Advanced Programme
Suitable for the more experienced or regular golfer. Consists
of 3 x 45 minute lessons and 1 x 9 hole playing lesson. The lessons
will concentrate on the keys to taking the game to the course.
Working on pre-shot routine and parts of the short game or swing
depending on the golfers needs. The final step is to take everything
to the course and consolidate the improvements. Further rules
and etiquette will be included.
3 hole playing lesson
Suitable for all golfers. Working on improving course management
to achieve the ultimate goal, lower scores!
9 hole playing lesson
Suitable for all established golfers. Working on course management
to achieve lower scores. Improving specific areas of the mental
approach, including relaxation and focus techniques.
Group Tuition
Designed for everyone. Organise a group of friends or colleagues,
either as beginners or regular golfers. The content or program
will be designed to suit the needs of everyone with the group.
